Badge Artisans has manufactured custom metal promotional gifts since 2010. Fridge magnets are the highest-volume category in this group, and the one where design carries the most retail value for tourism, museum and brand programs. They stopped being a cheap giveaway a long time ago. Magnet grade, print color accuracy and surface protection decide whether the item sells on a shelf.

Process notes
UV printing does the heavy lifting on fridge magnets. It has no metal line limit, so it prints gradients, photographs and fine text that enamel cannot reach. When a buyer wants a raised 3D look instead, we move to zinc alloy with soft enamel and use metal lines to build the layers.
Material and process pairings follow a pattern. Zinc alloy with UV print is the standard build for tourism and brand work. Acrylic with UV print or double-layer lamination suits younger, faster-moving designs and runs 30-50% below zinc alloy on unit cost. Zinc alloy with soft enamel covers the high-end 3D route.
Series development is normal for tourism buyers. On a Weihai theme project we developed four SKUs in one run, same process, same plating, different subjects. Tourism buyers tend to order in sets, so offering a series at quote stage usually lifts order value.

Process notes
Long thin parts are the forming challenge in this category. A part at 80×3.5×8mm tends to bow after die casting as it cools and shrinks. We control straightness through mold compensation and a straightening step. This is worth raising at quote stage, because thin parts carry a higher reject rate than square parts by nature.
The reliability of the magnetic fixing comes down to how magnet depth matches the wall thickness of the divot tool. Set too shallow, and the ball marker falls out in a pocket. Set too deep, and the load-bearing section of the divot tool is weakened. That dimension is confirmed per drawing, not treated as a standard part.
The three-in-one build (divot tool, ball marker and bottle opener) is the most common way to raise order value here, and it is a natural cross-sell between golf and drinks buyers.
Custom Luggage Tags and Metal Luggage Stickers
Luggage tags are a steady requirement for travel, hotel, airline and corporate travel programs. The market runs on leather, silicone and plastic. Process notes
Metal stickers belong to the printing product family. Copper, iron, aluminum, stainless steel, stainless iron and zinc alloy all work. The full hardware route runs: stamping, deburring or edge polishing, accessory welding, polishing, electroplating, sticker application, epoxy dome, then inspection and packing. The alloy route runs: die casting, trimming, accessory setting, polishing, electroplating, sticker application, epoxy dome, then inspection and packing. Where a back pattern is required, it is formed before the later steps.
The step buyers overlook most on luggage tags is hole placement and load. Straps that snap and holes that tear almost always trace back to a hole that was not placed along the direction of strap pull. It is the same design fault that makes a keychain hang crooked when the hole is centered on the outline.
Two structural routes

Die-cast zinc alloy or brass body, punched hole, leather strap, webbing or steel ring assembly. Body sizes run from 60×40mm to 100×60mm at 2-4mm thick. Processes include soft enamel, UV printing and laser engraving for names and serial numbers, with double-sided design available. - (b) Metal Luggage Sticker
Copper, iron, aluminum, stainless steel or zinc alloy base, produced through the sticker process chain with an epoxy dome on top. Suited to case decoration, equipment plates and vehicle decals.
Custom Coasters for Bars, Breweries and Brand Gifts
Coasters are a practical item for bars, breweries and food service, and the easiest piece to pair with a bottle opener in a drinks promotion set. The technical difficulty is not the artwork. It is the base and the edge: condensation protection, and whether the coaster cuts a hand.

Process notes
Edge finishing is the quality red line on metal coasters. A square metal edge will scratch a hand after one turn in the palm, and retail-channel products cannot skip this step. We build the bevel or the rolled edge into the mold at tooling stage rather than relying on after-polishing, because after-polishing cannot hold consistency at production volume.
The three base routes each trade off differently. Cork feels the best and suits retail and gift boxes, but it does not tolerate water and must be paired with waterproof treatment. EVA costs the least and looks the cheapest, which fits high-volume promotions. A silicone anti-slip ring grips best but adds assembly time that has to go into the quote.
Coasters sit with the same buyer group as bottle openers and fridge magnets. When we quote a drinks or craft brewery buyer, we usually send a combined option rather than a single-item price.

Process notes
Glass enamel is the high-end process for ornaments. It transmits light better than standard enamel and gives a richer surface, which is why show IP and collector ornaments usually use it.
Hole placement on an ornament has to be calculated from the actual center of gravity. Crooked hanging is the most common design fault here, and it happens when the hole is centered on the outline while the real weight sits off-center. The hole goes where the weight is.
Wine stoppers use lead-tin alloy centrifugal casting, the longest production cycle of any part we make. We build a longer lead time into the quote from the start rather than passing the delay on later. The part that touches the wine needs to meet food-contact requirements (EU LFGB / US FDA), so any project shipping to Europe or the US should raise this early.

Magnets are not a standard part. Rubber magnetic sheet costs less and suits flat, light pieces. A shaped 3D piece needs a strong neodymium (NdFeB) magnet to hold its own weight. Magnet type has to be confirmed before quoting, because the price gap between the two is significant.

A part at 80×3.5×8mm bows easily as it cools after die casting. We control straightness with mold compensation and a straightening step, and we build the naturally higher reject rate of thin parts into the quote.
